Batan Island is a rich island with feedstocks including copra (dried coconut kernel), available in plentiful supply in that area, and the plentiful berries of the easily propagated JATROPHA plant, known to be similar to fossil fuel in their chemical composition and requiring a short cycle from planting to harvest (approximately 7 months).
